"Orthopaedic Fundamentals"
Orthopaedic Training for Orthopaedic Sales and Marketing Professionals and Associated Groups A major challenge facing orthopaedic companies is the length of time it takes to train recently appointed sales and marketing professionals. The language of orthopaedics, the complexities of implant design and biomechanics, the current (and diverse) orthopaedic debates and the significance of biocompatible materials takes a long time to learn and often presents companies with the challenge of just who will do the teaching. Consult See provides training in the central areas of orthopaedics, using a combination of action based distance-learning and classroom based events. An understanding of the principles of orthopaedics facilitates product knowledge and ensures individuals can shape their own learning in the future as technology advances and new products are launched. ‘Orthopaedic Fundamentals’ provides training in the areas of; orthopaedic terminology, structure & function of bones, muscles & joints, biomechanics, materials, relevant disease & trauma and the principles of implant design and is aimed at sales and marketing personnel working in orthopaedic companies. That said, the structure and content of the course makes the programme relevant to hospital staff (ODP’s, nurses, physio’s etc) and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of orthopaedic patients. Learner support is available from the trainers at set times for the action based distance-learning modules and the classroom events are delivered by individuals with experience in the orthopaedic healthcare industry. These individuals have ‘carried the bag’ as sales people, sales managers and orthopaedic trainers for one of the largest orthopaedic companies, DePuy UK.
